Client Documentation Management and Translation Department

Team building 2018

A warm Friday evening. United by the magic word “team building”, we all gather at the entrance to the business centre, with a mysterious expression on our faces. When the time comes, we jump into the cars for one and a half hour journey that is to plunge us into the incredible cozy ambience of our hotel at the edge of the forest. The clean mountain air is redolent with the scent of pine, and we can hear the joyful hustle and bustle of the various creatures that busy about their daily affairs: butterflies, dragonflies, and fussy bumblebees. Our boots crunch softly on the pine needles that cover the ground. What a wonderful backdrop to the corporate highlight of the year!

Even more is in store for us at the hotel: our host’s delicious dishes as well as easy conversation and folk dances till the crack of dawn. As the evening draws on, the chill settles in outside and the scent of pines becomes more noticeable, the burning wood starts to crackle in the fireplace. And finally, we gather round the common table which has been carefully laid for us by the owner of the establishment. Every one of us is unique; can today’s corporate event please us all and bring joy and satisfaction to everybody?

The teambuilding adventure begins…

It turns out that the Client Documentation Management & Translation department is not just a byword for language proficiency, professionalism, quality and efficiency. There’s more to it: creative personalities who are no stranger to folk music, folk dances and the Bulgarian shepherd’s pipe.

The morning after. Nature has given us a wonderful sunny day and we start our journey. The clean and crisp forest air allows us to forget our daily problems and discover the mystery of the age-old forest.

The silence of the forest is broken by the dulcet sounds of the Bulgarian shepherd’s pipe…

Trite Pyti, Daichovo Horo, Thracian Horo, Thracian Rachenitza, Sborenik, a slow Thracian melody…. This is our colleague Nikolay. The beauty of the forest has inspired him to start playing. But how to resist encouraging the performer? We all join the collective folk dance. Moreover, it is our team leader who leads the dance!

After the walk in the woods, we go for a lunch in Samokov. The restaurant boasts delicious dishes and responsive staff. We pause there before we head for the local convent.

The history of the convent is centuries old and goes back to 1722. The legend has it that the icons there were painted single-handedly by Samokov-based painter Christo Dimitroff. Here the images of the Virgin Mary and her infant Jesus Chirst are depicted side by side with those of St Cyril and Methodius, the first teachers. Besides, the church also houses interesting icons of the Samokov School – St Nicholas, St John Chrysostom and others. Traces of frescos can be found at the church arch: they are the brain-child of Samokov artists.

The Samokov convent is a wonderful place, and it has preserved its wonderful atmosphere of spirituality, uprisings and humility.

Here, in this ancient monastery, every one of us starts thinking about eternity and spends some time in contemplation, engrossed in thoughts about the incredible ambience of this holy place that resonates with people’s prayers to God.

We go back home with a pleasant sense of tiredness, inspiration, and peace. Every one of us understands the most important thing we have derived from our trip: – the sense of unity and team spirit which we haven’t achieve overnight but have been building with every passing day. And we add on a daily basis new building stones to the foundations we have laid at CODIX, our common Home. This experience will stay with us forever. A team building event we will never forget!
